​​We grew up in households knowing the coziness and warmth that wood burning fireplaces bring to a home. From a classic Franklin Fireplace to an airtight woodstove, and then a brick fireplace with an airtight wood burning insert, our heating sources kept evolving. But in all cases, we had concerns about the health and cleaning issues that the byproducts of warm fire produce such as soot, ash, dust, and dirt. In 2015, when we were planning our new house build, we took the opportunity to research and search for a type of heating that would provide a healthy, clean, efficient and environmentally friendly option. To make a long story short, this is when we discovered Portage and Main wood boilers, which ticked off every box on our list.
